Detail of Cesarica Beach with the Velebit
This part of the Adriatic is not the typical coast of Croatia with the white pebbly beaches backed by lush pine forests. Instead, natural conditions are rather harsh here. Vegetation is limited due to the orcanic blows of the bura wind during the fall, winter and spring months of the year. The coastline is sparsely inhabited, development of touristic projects and resorts are next to none here. Most of the travellers wouldn't want to choose this area - yet it could be a dream location for those who value nature in its almost pristine form, the lack of crowds and tranquility.
For accessing the sea and going to the beach most of the people in Cesarica use the coast in Nova Cesarica - part of the shore is covered with concrete here and there is also a metal ladder to enter and leave the sea. Although it's not primarily used as a beach, the bay in the old village below the church can also be used for swimming and sunbathing - the coast offers some pebbly area for easy access to the sea here.
While Nova Cesarica is not jam-packed with restaurants and shops, a small bar and a tiny grocery store with the daily necessities are open.
